About Natàlia
I’m Natàlia Juan Abelló, an illustrator from Barcelona, based in Liverpool. Not long after graduating as a fashion designer in 2012, I moved to the UK, where I worked as an in-house surface pattern designer. In 2018 I took the leap and went freelance, specializing in children’s illustration. Since then, I have worked on board books, non-fiction for children, jigsaws, patterns for stationery and fabric, and greeting cards, among others.
Comforting and whimsical, my work is just as carefully designed as it is playful in its creation. The bright palettes and simple shapes are softened by handmade textures and details. I love filling nature and everyday life scenes with magical creatures or anthropomorphic animals, to capture a sense of wonder.
